The Secretary to the Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi, invites Applications to fill up the post of Service Engineer (Electronics), (General Central Service, Group 'A' Gazetted, NonMinisterial) in the Pay scale of ` 8000-275-13500/-(pre-revised) (corresponding PB-3 of ` 1560039100 + Grade Pay of ` 5400/- in Fishery Survey of India, Mumbai a subordinate office under Dept. of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries by Deputation (including short-term contract) failing which by Direct Recruitment from amongst the Officers under the Central Government or State Governments or Union Territories or Agricultural Universities or Autonomous or Statutory Organization or Semi Government or Recognised Research Institutions or Councils.
(A) (i) Holding analogous posts on regular basis
                                  OR
(ii) With five years' regular service in posts in the scale of Rs. 6500-10500 (pre-revised) (corresponding PB-2 of 9300-34800 plus grade pay of Rs. 4600/ or equivalent or
(iii) with eight years regular service in posts in the scale of 5500-9000/- (pre-revised) (corresponding PB-2 of 9300-34800 plus grade pay of 4200/- or equivalent and
(B) Possessing the following educational qualifications and experience,
Essential :
(a) Degree in Electronics/Telecommunication/Electrical and Electronics/ Instrumentation from a recognized University or equivalent.
(b) Three years experience in maintenance and repairs of Electronics equipments.
Desirable :
1. Experience in servicing and installation of Electronic equipment on board fishing vessel.
2.  Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes. If at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
3. Period of deputation including period of deputation in another Ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or Department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not to exceed three years. The maximum age limit for appointment by Deputation (including Short-Term Contract) shall be not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
4. The pay of the officer selected will be governed by the provisions laid down in the Department of Personnel & Training OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 17th June, 2010 as amended from time to time.

within 60 days from the date of publication of this advertisement in the Employment News along with up to date APARs for the last 5 years, in original, or photocopies duly attested by an officer of the level of Under Secretary or above, Vigilance Clearance Certificate, Integrity Certificate and the Certificate of major/minor penalty imposed on the officer during the last 10 years of his service. The Cadre Controlling Authority may also kindly certify to the effect that the particulars furnished by the officer have been verified and found correct. Applications received after the due date or without APARs or otherwise found incomplete will not be considered.
6. All are requested that the vacancy may be given wide publicity in the Attached/Sub-ordinate Offices under their control.
Duties and Responsibilities of the post of Service Engineer :
(Electronics) in brief are as follows
1.   Responsible for the maintenance of all the Electronic equipments on board the vessels of East and West Coast and the equipments of the base offices to ensure that they are maintained in a good condition all the time so that effectiveness of the survey is not lost by the vessel.
2.   Responsible to carry out the repairs of the equipments outside the Headquarters also whenever reported by the other Bases.
3.   He shall make arrangements for smooth operation of Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) at Porbandar with the help of expert agencies in the field.
4.   He shall establish an Electronic Workshop/Service Centre at each Zonal Base with the necessary equipments required for the repairs/servicing.
5.   He will report to the Mechanical Marine Engineer of the respective Base for the spare parts inventory/procurement and initiate action through Mechanical Marine Engineer.
6.   Monthly report on his works and the condition of the equipments will be submitted to Director (Engg.), Deputy Director General (Engg) through Mechanical Marine Engineer/Base-inCharge.
7.   He will be assisted by the Electronic Supervisor of Cochin Base and the Departmental Workshop of respective Bases in his work.
8.   Any other work as assigned by his superior.
